Agree with Chris Low 100% that the Show Reserve Cab Merlot is a better pairing with the steak than the Show Reserve Shiraz. And I forgot to compliment Nigel for his perfect blending of the Cab Merlot which feels like one grape! Personally, although the Show Reserve Shiraz is Nigel's favorite, it didn't really stand out for me. Instead, I thought the Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz is smoother, silkier and tastes better. The Cab Merlot left such an impression on me that I bought the Wyndham Bin 888 Cab Merlot (not made by Nigel) as an alternative. Though not as good as Nigel's Show Reserve, it was quite close minus the strong french oak aftertaste. As good California Zinfandel is hard to come by in Malaysia, this Cab Merlot is a good alternative. Hope that you can organize a wine lunch with a good California Zinfandel in the future. For rendang, I would either pair with sweet Grenache, or jammy Cline Zinfandel or good ole Syrah. For the rest of the spicy and smoked dishes, I would pair with the Asti or Cava (semi-seco, yummy!! :) Chris GanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538054702497083731.post-22482533776130737912008-12-03T18:32:00.000+08:002008-12-03T18:32:00.000+08:00HI Lionel & ChrisAfter having attended numerou...HI Lionel & Chris

After having attended numerous Jacob's Creek lunches, IMHO I find Hardy wines to be tastier compared to JC in the same price range. I'm just curious about your choice of pairing theCDP with cod fillet and cauliflower - I find it a strange pairing would've expected it to suck considering that CDP is a strongly flavored full bodied wine which will overpower such dishes (notwithstanding the presence of red wine sauce in the dish). Perhaps the Beaujolais, the Pinot, a Tempranillo Rosado and sparkling Shiraz may work? :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538054702497083731.post-71110568849742911122008-10-29T13:52:00.000+08:002008-10-29T13:52:00.000+08:00Awwww......Awwww......Lionel Lau + Chris Lowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14572619157410884726noreply@blogger.com
